Lively exits DL and heads for Lehigh Valley

Coming out of spring training, Ben Lively won the battle between he and Zach Eflin for the final spot in the Phillies rotation. An injury though may have cost him the war. The Phillies today activated Lively from the DL and promptly sent him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, while Eflin, who took his spot in the rotation, will remain with the Phillies.

Lively was 0-2 with a 6.85 ERA in five starts with the Phillies when he wound up on the DL with a back strain. The injury likely affected his final start with the Phillies which he left early because of the injury. In that game against Arizona, Lively was pounded for seven earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings of work.

There is no immediate timetable for Lively to return from the DL.
