Cutters win season opener

Cutters Starter Ethan Lindow retired the first nine batters he faced as the Crosscutters won their season/home opener 3-2 over rival State College. Lindow finished with five innings of work, allowing two runs – both earned – on four hits, striking out two in a no decision.

Julio Francisco connected on his first home run of the season, a game-tying shot in the sixth inning, to tie the game at 2-2. An inning later, Brayan Gonzalez delivered the go-ahead RBI single, plating Danny Mayer to give the Crosscutters a 3-2 lead.

In relief of Lindow, the Crosscutters bullpen tossed four shutout innings to close out the Opening Night win over the Spikes. Randy Alcantara worked three shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one batter and Luis Ramirez closed the door with a shutout inning of relief in the ninth, picking up a strikeout en route to his first save of the season.
